Pre Treatment Advice for Tattoo Removal

Avoid sun exposure including tanning beds for 2 weeks prior to and 2 weeks after the treatment. If you need to go in the sun, wear sunblock on the area that you want to have treated. Suntanned or burned skin cannot receive laser treatments.

We CAN NOT do treatments if:

  • The skin on or around the area to be treated is infected

  • You are on Accutane or have been in the last 6 months

  • You are currently on any photosensitizing medications

Any brand new tattoos would need to be completely healed before treatment.

With darker skin tones, a pretreatment with melanin suppression would be advisable to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation post-treatment.

A cold compress can be applied for 10-15 minutes prior to the treatment.

Avoid pain medication such as Motrin, Aleve, and aspirin 3 to 7 days prior to the treatment.

Post Treatment Advice for Tattoo Removal

For the first three days, cover the area with a layer of antibiotic ointment. You can remove the bandage after three days, but keep the area as clean and dry as possible. Hydrocortisone cream or Aquaphor can also be used to moisturize the area and reduce itching as it heals.

Wear sunblock of SPF 30+ anytime you go outside. Sun exposure is not good for the skin after a tattoo removal treatment.

Once the bandage is off, you can shower, wash the area with mild soap, and pat dry. Avoid swimming, baths, and hot tubs until the area is completely healed.

Do not pick scabs, pop blisters, or shave the area until it has healed.
