Brazilian Bikini Wax FAQ's
What is a Brazilian Wax?
The Brazilian Wax is a completely clean bikini wax that removes all of the hair—including the backside. If you prefer, we can leave a triangle or a strip in front.
Does a Brazilian hurt?
The pain involved really varies, but most women say it was not as painful as they had expected. Keep in mind that the first time is usually the most painful. When it’s time for your next wax (4-6 weeks) you will have approximately 25% of the hair you had the first time, which makes for a much less painful wax.
How long does the hair have to be?
If you normally shave, let it grow for about 7 days. Any shorter and you may not get as clean of a wax or may need a good amount of tweezing.
How long will my Brazilian wax take?
It should take around 30 minutes.
I want to shave between appointments...is that ok?
Once you begin waxing the hair grows in thinner and more slowly. Shaving can irritate follicles and make the hair seem to grow back thicker. It also will make your next wax more painful. So, we do not recommend shaving but you certainly can, if you chose to.
What can I expect after my wax?
Waxed skin can be red and/or tender for a few days after being waxed (usually not that long). You may also have small bumps for a short time. All of this is totally normal and should clear up within a day or two. Give us a call if you have any concerns after your wax.
Does it itch when it grows back in?
Unlike shaving, the hair does not itch when growing back to the surface because of the thin, fine regrowth.
Do you “Double-Dip” the sticks?
WE NEVER DOUBLE DIP OUR STICKS! When sticks are double dipped, it will contaminate the entire wax container. We use our sticks one time and then dispose of them immediately. We may use up to 25 sticks for just one appointment.
Can I be waxed during my period?
Yes, it's fine to be waxed while you're on your period, but keep in mind that your body is usually more sensitive during this time and waxing is generally more painful. We just ask that you wear a tampon.
Is waxing safe if I'm pregnant?
It is always best to check with your doctor first. Generally, it is perfectly safe for both you and your baby. However, your skin may be a little more sensitive during this special time.
Is it ok to tan before or after I get waxed?
You should not tan 48 hours before your waxing appointment, as this could cause trauma to the skin.
Are there any age requirements for waxing?
Yes. You must be 18 years of age or have a parental approval/signature to be a client at ReVive.
May I bring a friend to my wax appointment?
We're sorry, but we don't allow anyone else in the room during the waxing process.
What can I do if I get ingrown hairs?
When you shave or wax the hairs can get stuck beneath the surface of the skin. To help prevent this we recommend a product called Finapil that gently exfoliates the skin. It is recommended that you use it daily after getting out of the shower.
How long will it take before the hair grows back?
The area of hair that is waxed will stay completely bare anywhere from 7 to 14 days, depending on hair growth. Then, you will start to see sparse hairs come to the surface. In four weeks, the hair growth is usually one-fourth the amount you started with. Results vary person to person.
What type of wax is used for a "Brazilian Bikini Wax"?
ReVive does not use "wax" but, instead, uses a special soy product, Nudesse Nufree, for all of our bikini and Brazilian waxing that actually contains no wax at all!
