What to expect: Keratin Lash Lift

August 21, 2019

Here at ReVive, we LOVE lashes and making our guests feel like the best versions of themselves. Much to our dismay, eyelash extensions are not always the perfect solution for everyone. For instance, you may find you want a more natural look, have time or budget constraints, or have a reaction to lash extensions. So what else can you do to make your eyelashes stand out?

One great option is undergoing a Keratin Lash Lift! The lift is like a perm for your lashes, making them look naturally curled and eliminating the need for a manual eyelash curler. This service is an excellent choice for people who are always busy because the process only needs to be done every 4 to 6 weeks. Additionally, you don’t have to be as careful with your lashes as you would with extensions. For example, you can wear mascara or liquid eyeliner, and you’re free to touch your lashes or sleep on your face.

If you’ve never had a lash lift, here’s what the process looks like:

  • After going through a brief consultation, the esthetician will have you lay back and apply gel pads under your eyes, on top of the lower lashes to protect them during the process.

  • Next they will cleanse your lashes to prep them for the lift.

  • Based on the length of your natural lashes and how much curl you would like to achieve, the esthetician will then choose an appropriate sized rod to adhere your lashes back. This rod will form the new shape of your lashes following the lift.

  • Once your natural lashes are in place, the retexturizing cream will be applied. Your eyelashes, much like your hair, are made up of interlocked keratin proteins. This cream works by breaking the bonds connecting the proteins, which allows the lashes to be malleable to their new shape.

  • After removal of the retexturizing cream, a neutralizing solution will be applied, which reconnects the keratin proteins and locks in the curl of the lashes.

  • The esthetician will then unstick the lashes from the rod. At this point, if you would also like to darken your lashes, a tinting solution can be applied.

  • Finally, the keratin serum is brushed through the lashes, which fills in any gaps in the lashes to strengthen and fortify them.

Voila! Now you have gorgeous curled lashes!

The aftercare for this process is simple and straightforward. For the first 24 hours, keep the lashes dry. Try not to

sleep on your face that night, so the lashes don’t end up kinked or turned in an unnatural direction. Wait until the next day to apply any mascara or eye products. If you do find you have any residual adhesive in your lashes, after the 24 hour period you can wash your eyes with warm water, and it should remove easily.

While this process is great for lifting and curling your lashes, remember that it will not change the length, thickness, or quantity of lashes you have naturally. If you have any questions about the keratin lash lift or your suitability for this process, feel free to contact our guest service experts via call, text, or email!
